Strategic Communications Specialist

The Choice Schools Associates Communications and Marketing Team is looking to expand its dynamic team with a Strategic Communications Specialist. We're looking for a highly motivated, self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced, highly creative environment. As the team's Strategic Communications Specialist, you will be developing and executes communication strategies to drive culture, awareness, and engagement within the 15 unique charter schools Choice manages. Our team acts as a full-service agency. This position will be the liaison between the marketing team members, central office team, school leaders, and school board liaisons, leading projects, creating marketing campaigns, sharing stories and elevating the schools' brands.   • Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree plus over five years of prior relevant work experience.

REPORTS TO:    Chief Communications Officer


  • Assist in leading a team while working with the school leaders to develop integrated school-wide communication and enrollment plans with strategies for all audiences to help build and maintain the school's mission and reputation.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies to drive culture, awareness, and engagement across the organization. 
  • Create and execute communications strategies that articulate each individual schools' value proposition to external audiences through print and digital platforms, including social media, marketing campaigns, and communications materials, such as press releases, fact sheets, or parent communication materials. 
  • Design and execute strategic communications plans to tell the story of each individual school. 
  • Proactively look for and develop new opportunities to elevate the schools' brands on local, state, and national levels. 
  • Lead and think holistically about the complete communications package we can offer the schools. 
  • Initiate, lead and update the year-long communication calendars for all schools,
  • Act as the project manager for a variety of communications projects at the same time. 
  • Develop relationships and meet with school leaders on a frequent basis about communication strategies, this requires frequent travel throughout the state of Michigan. 
  • Serve as the content director for our internal and external newsletter
  • Manage the school marketing budget projects in accordance with the school's individual communications (enrollment & retention) plans. 
  • Act as a problem solver to think outside of the box when faced with school problems.
