SUPERVISOR(S): Director of Technology
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full-time
JOB GOAL: Responsible for successfully overseeing and updating the system administration of the District's Student Information System and Learning Management Systems.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Powerschool Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems (SIS/LMS):
- Serve as the system administrator for PowerSchool.
- Ensure student data is accurately and consistently maintained and troubleshoot inconsistencies. Assist other PowerSchool users to enter data correctly and conform to state standards.
- Works with the Pupil Accounting and Compliance Officer to prepare, run, submit, verify, and certify student data submissions for required state reports and notify appropriate staff of timelines and needs.
- Manages the reporting and coordination between the Student Information System (SIS) and Michigan Student Data System.
- Develops and coordinates data exchange between databases, software programs, and internal and external data sources both within the District and with the State of Michigan.
- Provides support and training to building personnel in order to maintain accurate data in PowerSchool.
- Create and maintain PowerSchool user accounts and assign security to appropriate personnel.
- Supports the technology department and Pupil Accounting and Compliance Officer with the accuracy and reporting of PowerSchool, Single sign-on management, Xello, G-Suite/Google Classroom, Seesaw, PLTW, and other digital platform integration, Schoology Learning Management System, online textbooks, student assessment rostering and reporting. The PowerSchool SIS/LMS & Data Manager is also responsible for state reporting submissions for General Collections, School Record Maintenance (SRM), Teacher-Student Data Link (TSDL), Early Childhood Collection, Graduation and Dropout (GAD), Michigan Care Improvement Registry, (MCIR), and others.
- Run reports and verify as directed by administration the pupil attendance reports from Powerschool for elementary, middle and high school to ensure accuracy of the data and in also preparation for auditing purposes.
- Works cohesively with administration and office personnel regarding pupil enrollment, transfer and placement of student services and needs.
- Maintains data and communication and processes in-district transfer requests.
- Review residency issues, including case investigations as necessary. (ex: aligning and coding students/siblings with different last names.)
- Attend local, regional, and statewide meetings and conferences as required.
- Recommend policies, procedures, and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the district's student management system's needs.
- Compose a variety of material (e.g., reports, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information regarding all aspects of the position.
- Supports the Technology Department as needed.
- Ensures the Student Information System (SIS) is up to date and current with new applications,programs, and integrative platforms.
- All other duties as assigned by the administration and Director of Technology.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree required (Bachelors Preferred)
- 2 or more years of experience with PowerSchool and/or student information systems preferred.
- PowerSchool certification is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pupil accounting rules, regulations, and procedures preferred.
- Success experience training others on student information systems.
- Superior organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, prioritize, meet and manage deadlines required.
Other:
- Applies positive customer service to the role and is perceived as a team member by staff and Academy employees.
- Assists with other duties upon request and approval of the primary and secondary school leaders.
