Livingston Classical Academy in Whitmore Lake exists as a tuition-free public school to educate youth on our nation's founding principles and empowers them, as free citizens, to pursue a virtuous life of happiness and excellence.

Livingston Classical Academy will train the minds and nurture the hearts of young people through a rigorous, classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue.

  • Full approval as a Michigan Teacher of the Speech and Language Impaired or Speech and Language Pathologist certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC's) from ASHA.
  • Must be licensed through Michigan Bureau of Health Care Services.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of speech/language development and pathology necessary to identify communication disorders and to develop appropriate programs and services for speech and language impaired students.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with administrators, staff, agencies, medical providers, students and their families.
  • Effective time management skills, self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks.
  • Ability to make decisions and problem solve within a team of service providers.
  • Complete a comprehensive evaluation of students in response to special education referrals.
  • Participate in educational planning and consultation in the schools.
  • Provide speech and language services to students with special education needs as assigned on the IEP.
  • Effectively communicate, consult, and team with parents, staff, agencies, and others.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established time lines.
  • Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and duties as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor/Director.
  • Knowledge of IDEA and MARSE.


Providing supportive services for eligible students enrolled in regular, vocational or special education programs. The Speech Language Pathologist will focus on student evaluation, provision of direct and indirect therapy services and collaborative consultation with staff, parents, agency personnel and administrators.
