High School Behavioral Interventionist

This position will be supporting our High School community and supervising our Student Advocates!

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 10 month schedule, Salaried, Exempt

  • Assist individuals, groups and systems through the application of positive behavior supports.
  • Work directly with students to adopt behaviors that substantially increase their academic performance.
  • Support classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies.
  • Conducts training on school wide positive discipline behavior expectations.
  • Work with individual teachers, groups of teachers and/or the entire staff on issues such as crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect the development and implementation of interventions.
  • Promote high specialized positive behavior interventions in which "at-risk" students' thrive; behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated and provides ample practice.
  • Maintains records of student progress and data implementation into SWIS (behavior data system).
  • Works cooperatively with building administration to promote positive student behaviors.
  • Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to increase knowledge and skills of positive student behavioral support for all students.
  • Support conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions.
  • Review behavior referrals and SWIS data reports.
  • Participate in school wide PBIS/MTSS meetings/trainings.
  • Investigates student behavioral issues, administers suspensions when necessary, conducts parent/guardian re-admit meetings.
  • Leadership responsibilities to student advocates to assist with positive student behavioral supports.
  • Increase educator's awareness of the academic issues that impact family improvements.


  • Participates in the development of policies and regulations that affect instruction and conditions of success.
  • Works cooperatively with peers, including school social workers.
  • Provides in-service training for staff in guidance programs and in student conflict resolution and self-awareness programs.
  • Implements the behavioral intervention plan with the information collected based on the individual needs of the child and family.
  • Assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Administrator.


  • Assumes responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.
  • Maintains and administers the student records system according to the Academy, state, and federal regulations and protects the system's confidentiality.
  • Organizes time, resources, energy, and workload in order to meet responsibilities
  • Participates in appropriate professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree for college or university.
  • Demonstrated competence in all areas of focus.
  • Ability to counsel students, parents, and staff, individually and in groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written expression using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Exemplary work habits verified by previous employers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with youth in a school setting

  • Knowledge and skills of the MTSS/PBIS.
  • Knowledge and skills working with At-Risk students.
